Sarah Armstrong

Dietetic Intern

Hi! My name is Sarah Armstrong and I am a dietetic student at Nourished Beginnings. I am currently finishing my last placement in the Diploma in Dietetic Education and Practical Training program with Brescia University College.

I am so excited to have the opportunity to complete a placement with Nourished Beginnings. Throughout my dietetic training, most of my experience within the prenatal field has involved counseling women who have gestational diabetes. I have recently gained more exposure to pediatric nutrition through my experience at a Family Health Team, which has further increased my interest in this field. In the future, I hope to practice clinical nutrition in an outpatient setting, which will enable me to work with a wide range of patients across the lifespan. I enjoy being able to establish long-term relationships with patients while being actively engaged in both primary prevention and chronic disease management.

Maria Syeda

Dietetic Intern

Hello, I’m Maria, a dietetic intern at Nourished Beginnings! I am currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Foods and Nutrition at Brescia.

I aspire to practise as a Registered Dietitian within a clinical setting one day. While I’m still unsure about which area of dietetics interests me the most, I have to say that prenatal and paediatric nutrition is definitely at the top of the list.

I have been in school pretty much all my life, but with this dietetic internship, I’m slowly starting to learn how to tailor the textbook definitions and journal articles to actual people in a real world setting. It’s a bit of a learning curve because of just how complex nutrition can be, but I am beyond excited to take up this challenge and delve deep into the nutrition arena.

As a child, she was always right in the kitchen with her parents and in the garden helping grow veggies. She still loves to cook and has her own vegetable garden as an adult.

Angelique hopes to continue learning and growing her skills in the nutrition field so she can make healthy eating accessible to everyone. She wants to teach people how to eat healthy affordably and help municipalities plan to reduce food insecurity. Outside of nutrition, she is a music lover, guitar player, avid rollerblader, and a giant language nerd.
