Nutrition for Iron Deficiency in Kids

A Dietitian Created & Guided Online Program for Children with Suspected or Diagnosed Iron Deficiency

NEXT SESSION STARTS 2024

DID YOU KNOW…

Iron deficiency is the most common nutrient deficiency in the world!

One of the very first things we do with a child is have their iron tested…it can be the clue to so much and give you a mountain of evidence to make changes.

Why does iron deficiency or iron deficiency anemia matter?

Low iron or anemia is nothing to be brushed off. It is a major health concern in children that needs to be addressed, assessed early and treated effectively. A child with low iron can have delayed growth and untreated anemia may affect mental development and function that often leads to attention problems, delays in reading ability and poor school performance.

47% of school-aged children are iron deficient

and that number is likely higher as many children are not tested.

Do you suspect your child is iron deficient? Have they been diagnosed with low iron?

Who is at risk?

  • Children with a diagnosis or ADHD/ADD

  • Children with suspected ADHD/ADD

  • Babies born premature or low-birth weight

  • Milk babies (drinking excessive milk daily)

  • Young children during growth spurts

  • Teens, especially girls with heavy menstrual cycles

  • Those with a low iron diet
